Trail Rides or Horseback Rides a Ride of a Lifetime!

We are closed on Sundays, Mondays, and Tuesdays we have experienced fewer horse-related injuries when giving our horses a day of rest -except Memorial Wk & Labor Day Weekend.

Our “small ride sizes” ensure that our guests receive the personal attention they deserve to have a truly unique interactive trail ride or horseback riding experience.

Our recreational horseback rides are nose-to-tail due to the nature of the terrain.  We love and respect our horses and always consider the safety of our clients, while responsibly riding from 8,500ft to 10,500ft in the Colorado Sangre de Cristo Mountains.

Reservations are required so we may conduct our business professionally, so we have the appropriate number of horses and guides on duty.   Information: first names, heights, weights, and ages of children 17 and under, cell phone number, and where you are staying.

Thank you for choosing Granite Mountain Outfitters. We look forward to giving you a ride of a lifetime, with experienced guides, responsive horses, and fabulous country!

Mission Statement: “To love and respect our horses, and to give merit for the joy they bring to our lives and those around us”

Granite Mountain Outfitters horses are gentle and are suited for beginner to experienced riders. Native mountain horses are sure-footed and allow for a western experience of scenic mountain views, wildflowers, and wildlife. Horseback tours are guided and specialize in scenic rides with personalized attention. From novice to expert we will match the horse, the rider, and the group to each rider’s ability. The ideal group size is no more than 4-6 horses; however, larger groups are catered to on an individual basis. Riding helmets are available for children and adults at no charge and are ASTM-SEI approved.

Spring Flowers

May and June are ideal times to witness the beauty of springtime in the Rockies! The crowds have not yet arrived, the mountains are still topped with snow while the daytime temps range between the 60s and ’70s and the forests and hillsides are emerald green with the emergence of spring leaves and grass.

Fall Foliage

With hundreds of acres of aspen groves, a trail ride at Granite Mountain Outfitters is a great way to be wholly immersed in the golden colors of fall in the Rockies. Your horse will not only take you through various groves of aspen but also to a breathtaking, panoramic mountain top for an overview of the changing foliage viewing Sangre De Cristo, Sawatch Mountains, and the San Luis Valley.

We ride with pride & have a ton of fun!
